This quote which I found in a book called the 'Spirituality of Wine' by Tom Harpur came as something of a surprise to me as I expected Calvin to be less in favour of alcohol than it appears he was. A good lesson in being careful not to read 21st century sensibilities into the events of the past."Wine is God's special drink. The purpose of good wine is to inspire us to a livier sense of gratitude to God."
